Topic: Problems with Intel Chipset (Integrated) 855GME (No Video Found)

Hello,

Within the past 2 years; I don't recollect what version.
Something changed were I was no longer able to get the Live CD to boot with Video working.

I've tried both SAFE and FAIL SAFE Mode with a very rudimentary base level resolution of Standard VGA 640 x 480 8 bpp.
Still no luck. Also tried the closest chipset (i915 not really close; but it's the only Intel option...) with no luck.

Going to try older download to see if any success: Live CD 0.3.4.11
I know it worked in the past; just not sure on what revision(s).

Any / all help greatly appreciated.

What version of GParted Live are you trying?  (The most recent is gparted-live-0.7.1-5).

What are the details of your computer systems hardware?

G-Parted-live-0.7.1-1 is what I downloaded and tried.
If you think that there is changes that address
my specific video issues for the Intel 855 on-board video;
I'm game to download the latest and greatest...

More information:

Downloaded Live version gparted-livecd-0.3.4-11.iso doing lowest VGA settings: VESA, it fails.

Downloaded Live version : gparted-livecd-0.3.3-7.iso; VGA works fine with letting it auto boot up.

So, between the gparted-live-0.7.1-1.iso and gparted-livecd-0.3.3-7.iso something has changed....

There have been major changes between gparted-livecd-0.3.3-7.iso and gparted-live-0.7.1-1.iso.

I do not know if the latest gparted-live-0.7.1-5 includes any specific driver updates for the Intel 855.  It is based on the Debian Sid repository as of 2011/Jan/07, whereas 0.7.1-1 was based on the Debian Sid repository as of 2010/Dec/15.

You might look at Trouble booting GParted Live and try using 'Forcevideo' and 'VESA'.

Hi gedakc,

I did in fact try the steps provided in the link provided  prior to my first post to the forum for assistance.
Unless there was changes / additions to my specific chip set,
it looks like gparted-livecd-0.3.3-7.iso will be my build / solution to use.

Did you try the i810 video driver?  I think that the Intel 855gm on-board video drivers were bundled with the i810.
