Topic: login request [thinkpad edge]

Hi there,
No matter how hard I was trying, I couldn't get it to work.
I downloaded iso of the latest stable version, used unetbootin to get it to flash disc and booted. ... After I selected gparted default selection (or other, it doesn't matter) I stuck at the login prompt.
Tried "user" with "live" password, but no success.

I also tried download zip version and put it on the flash disk manually... but in this case, It just stucked at
"tkbd.c: Spurious ACK on isa0060/serio0. Some program might be trying to access hardware directly." after few seconds of gparted boot.

I'm pretty sure, i'm doing everything according to tutorials on the web.
Does anybody know (or has some clue), what the hell is wrong with that?
Thanks a lot.

Re: login request [thinkpad edge]

A new method to place the GParted Live image on USB has recently been created using tuxboot.

This new method is described in the Live USB web page.  Perhaps you might try this new method?

Re: login request [thinkpad edge]

unfortunately this also doesn't work ....
said "startpar: service(s) returned failure: live-config ... failed!" and "startpar: service(s) returned failure:start-gparted-live ... failed!" and then asked for login ... again - user/live didn't work.

Re: login request [thinkpad edge]

Try to enter the failsafe mode in the boot menu, to see if any difference.

Do other live CDs boot properly on your computer?

You might try System Rescue CD to see if it will boot on your computer.
