Topic: Can't find HDD to partition

I run GPparted live 0704 from USB. Boot form USB is ok until arrives at the graphic environment. Gparted window opens> A small text line at the right bottom shows Gparted is looking for the dev/sda, then Gparted window close without letting me access any of the menu (eventually to input the HDD to look for). Any suggestion? I am trying to partition a 160G Toshiba HDD on a Toshiba netbook (NB 205) running XP home edition.

Try opening a terminal prompt from GParted Live.

At the prompt try running the following command:

sudo parted -l

And report back with the output.

Yes ..try to run sudo parted -l this commend ....!
This commend run on terminal prompt ..it would be help to complete your task.
