Topic: [SOLVED]Testing version 0.6.2-8 accidentally downloadable as stable

Hello support team,

I just wanted to download the latest stable release from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted … ve-stable/ and noticed that the actual download location shown in the status bar of my browser points to http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-testing/0.6.2-8/gparted-live-0.6.2-8.iso/download.

So whenever I try to download the stable version (0.6.2.2?) I end up with the testing version 0.6.2-8 instead.

Is version 0.6.2-8 the new stable version now which has not yet been moved to the gparted-live-stable directory on the download server or should the download link for the stable version still point to http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-stable/0.6.2-2/gparted-live-0.6.2-2.iso/download.

Thank you for looking into the matter.

The actual (latest) stable version is still 0.6.2-2.

I see what you mean: there is a big green button in the loading page, that gives the latest version, stable or testing. So, you just need to go just under this, and press the "0.6.2-2" folder link. This will show the links for 0.6.2-2 (iso, zip and package information file).

Really, I don't remember if this green button was there in the past. There are some template changes by Sourceforge sometimes.
Thank you very much to notify this. smile

Thank you very much for your reply.

The confusion IMHO arises mainly because on the download page (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php) you can quite clearly choose between stable and testing, but - as far as the green download button is concerned - you end up with the testing release nonetheless. This change was made about two weeks ago - before that, the download button for the stable release did indeed download version 0.6.2-2.

However, after having carefully read the changelog and release notes and having found no mention of bugs specific to version 0.6.2-8 in the bugs section nor in the live-cd testing forum, I decided to give the testing version a spin and so far I've been very pleased with the results. Resizing my partitions instead of deleting the old ones and creating/formatting the new ones certainly put my small business back on track in no time.

Making backups before considerung any partitioning operations is mandatory anyway, and so is thorough testing after putting the data back onto the partitions affected.

Keep up this excellent work, you're all doing a fine job and I'll certainly spread the word.

Cheerio!
