Topic: Not able to boot from the live CD

I have burned a gparted live cd and the boot sequence in my bios is also 1. floppy, 2. cd/dvd and then 3. hdd but the system is not booting off the live cd. please give your suggestions. thanks

How did you burn the cd? You need to burn it as ISO or IMAGE file, not just as data cd.
Did you check the checksum of the downloaded ISO file before burning the cd?
Do you have one optical drive only? If no, be sure that you have selected the right drive in the boot sequence.

How do you burn it as an ISO or Image?

Can this be done with the write to disk function of WinXP, or does it take a dedicated burning program?

I don't use Windows much, so I don't know what write to disk is, but it should just be an option that needs to be specified when you are burning the disk.
Most burning programs should have that option.
