Hi Larry. I'm trying to run beta-0.9 under Virtual PC 2004 and can't get any mouse point to work. Everything is fine under the released 0.3.3 version. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for the good work you're doing.

NO. I use it under VMware and it works *very* fine. But i guess you need some special drivers which i omitted...

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

does any work with vista now?

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

yes and no smile
On the livecd, you may find ntfsresize 1.13.1.1, which is able to resize vista, but GParted can do it atm. I dont exactly know why, since nobody give me help to find out the problem....
So using command line you can resize vista, yes

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

could you tell me the exact steps on how to use the command line to resize my C:/?

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

1) ntfsresize --help (to get info)
2) ntfsresize -s 3G -v /dev/sda3 (where "s" = size, v=verbose mode, /dev/sda3 is the partition you want to resize)

and you 've got it smile

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

Thank you very much for your information.

I succesfully resize my Vista partition with ntfsresize on live cd 0.3.3.5

I use console because startx does'nt work on my PC.

My primary Vista partition 39G, Vista  could'nt resize below 39G and I want 25G

1) ntfsresize -s 25G -v /dev/had1

-> resize file system from 39G to 25G

2) fdisk for delete the partition and recreate a new with the new size.

2.1) delete the first partition wich begin at sector 1 (old 39G)

2.2) add new partition wich begin at the SAME sector (1 for me) and new size : 25G (the same that the size of ntfsrezize)

2.3) activate the partition for boot

2.4) write change to disk

And it's OK, Vista boot on a new partition 25G.

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

I just try GParted on LiveCD 0.3.3.6 beta20070219 on my Vista Disk Test.

It works for resize Vista Partition.

Original Partition :
0 -> 25 Go : Vista system primary
25G -> 40G : data primary.

I use GParted for :
0 -> 15Go : Resize Vista system primary boot
15G -> 26G : old data resize from 15G to 40G and resize from 15G to 26G
26G -> 40G : new data primary
4 operations for GParted and all it's OK, Vista reboot on new partition and it's OK for the two others partitions.

Very excellent:
Vista can't, Partition Magic 8, can't..... GParted all OK !!!!!

In other way : DriveImage 7 does'nt works, Norton Ghost 10 does'nt works, DriveImage XML free software works perfectly !!!

Re: Gparted-0.3.4-4-beta

Hello Larry! I tested gparted-livecd-0.3.4-7-beta-2007..> 29-Apr-2007 15:17  45.2M on my mother computer (as she wanted to have more space for her C windows partition) and found that X doesn't start. It seems to be once again about the intel "i810" driver. I intended to edit etc/X11/xorg.conf but it was empty. Strange.., or did I do something wrong ?(I'm not familiar with vim but the command I gave was $vim etc/X11/xorg.conf upper and lower cases respected).

   Anyway, the 0.3.3 worked with X. From here I saw other problems emerging. I was a bit greedy and inpatient (as I was trying all day to make the liveCD work) and gave it a lot of things to do (resize and move an ext partition towards the end of the disk, move a fat32 and swap partitions near the ext partition and then increase the size of the first windows partition). All went well until the windows part. It stopped saying that it could not finish the job properly. The windows partitions now have (in Gparted) the dimensions I want them to have, but they appear to be nearly full (As if something has written on them when they were resized).

  In Windows however I can see no change in size for those partitions. I am confused.

  Thank you for this tool that you've created. It's great, as it worked without problems on my home computer. It is my mother's computer which really put me and Gparted to the test.

I was able to get the mouse with GParted v0.3.4-10 in MS Virtual PC 2007 by editing the VESA driver graphics option and adding " -- i8042.noloop" to the kernel line and then booting.  I got the idea from arcanecode's post at http://arcanecode.wordpress.com/2007/10 … l-pc-2007/.
