Topic: gparted-live-0.4.1-2 hangs on "unstable TSC error"
When I boot the gparted-live-0.4.1-2 CD it begans to load the kernel and detect the system hardware until it get to the following line on the boot up screen - "[9.579362] Marking TSC unstable due to: TSC halts in idle".
I have used this gparted CD on this system before without any problem. My last HDD (10G) with Win 2000 Pro and Debian 5.0 crashed and the system setup unused for several months. I obtained a 15G HDD and installed it. I attempted to install Win 2000 Pro on it but it would hang up on the windows startup splash screen after the blue progress bar was about half way through.
Thinking there might be something wrong with the HDD I loaded the "gparted-live-0.4.1-2" in the CD drive and booted the system. It loaded until the "TSC halts" error and hangs up there. The only way to get out of the program is to reset the system.
What and where do I look to find and fix this problem?
The system is: SOYO mb, SY-5EH5 with 512K Ram cache onboard, AWARD BIOS v4.51, PNP BIOS Ext. v1.0A, BIOS date 5/16/2000-VP3-586B-8669-2A5LES2AC-00, an ETEQ Chip EQ82C6638CE'98.
If additional info is needed from the system let me know by email.
Thanks,
Aubrey
