Topic: making live cd?

i must be doing something wrong, but for some reason i can't get the live cd working...

on the site is it explained only very briefly that i should download the iso image, burn it to cd and then boot from it.

i've done all those things, but when i boot up, well... nothing boots up. i have done the whole procedure as it is written here (even looked up on the net if i am doing something wrong, but all the "guides" seem to say the same). also all my boot devices are disable except my SATA cd-rom, but still it won't boot up.

am i doing something wrong here? pls halp. neutral

Re: making live cd?

You have to burn the ISO file as "ISO image", or Image or ISO (various programs use various terminology about this, but the operation is the same), not as data cd. The ISO file is the "image" of a bootable cd. That special burning procedure transfers the content of the file to a cdr, that becomes bootable. Most burning programs are able to do this.

Be careful, if you have winrar installed in your system, double-clicking on an ISO file usually calls winrar that opens the file as folder. Don't do this, just open your burning software and look for the image burning command.

Before burning, it is useful to check the md5 sum of the downloaded iso, to be sure that there was no error in the download. A damaged download means disc wasty, time wasty and errors with no obvious reason.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

Re: making live cd?

hm, that's exactly what i did. i used cdburnerxp to burn the image with the iso option. then booted and nothing. i am not sure what else could be the reason...

Re: making live cd?

@FranzJosef

You have to specify Finalize disc and Disc at Once for ISO images.
