Topic: GParted Wont Start

Ok ive downloaded the ISO from the website (latest stable release) and it boots into the menu when the computer is started with the disk inserted into the drive. Next I click on the option to Run Gparted Live (I think it says something like that) then it goes through the black screen with the white writing and then all of a sudden I get an error saying:

cdrom_decode_status: Status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}
cdrom_decode_status: error=0x40 {LastFailedSense=0x04}
Possibly Failed opcode: 0xa0
DMA disabled
ATAPI reset complete

Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks smile

Re: GParted Wont Start

Looks like the problem is on the CD drive or the CD itself. Could you try that on different machines?

Steven.

Re: GParted Wont Start

I got the exact same error as above with 0.5.1-1.
I tried 0.4.6-1 and it worked perfectly.

After cheerfully deleting one partition and resizing another, my system stopped booting because grub was pointing to the wrong partition.  This was my fault and it had absolutely nothing to do with GParted, but if anyone else experiences that issue, all you have to do is boot from the Ubuntu Live CD, download and run 'boot_info_script' to find out where grub thinks your /boot/grub is and where it actually is, and then use the 'mount' and 'grub-install' options to correct the error.
