Topic: Windows Vista - 04.6-1 live CD fails to boot

I have downloaded the 04.6-1 iso and burned it on the CD. It boots on XP not exactly the way it should, but gets stuck on VISTA after the following Warning:

"EMM386:Warning: Address Line A20 already enabled"
"Frame=D000 Kb="

Could you be so kind and give some assistance?

Many thanks.

I don't understand well what you tried. The livecd doesn't work under XP or vista. It boots its own operating system. You have to ensure that the cd-drive or dvd-drive has the priority in the boot sequence over the hard drive. This is a BIOS setup setting. If the computer tries to boot to XP or vista, this means that the boot sequence is not properly set, or perhaps the cd isn't properly written. Can you try it on some computer?

Re: Windows Vista - 04.6-1 live CD fails to boot

Maybe the CD's were not correct, I have downloaded now a newer version (04.8) this is working now.
I have a Vista System with Drive C: and D: - C: ist full with Programs and D: is quite empty.
Can I move some partitions (space) from D: to C:?

I have tried, but was not able to do so. Then I tried to copy the c: partitions to D: - this was possible - then I tried to change the name of C: to M: and the new copied drive D: to C: - this I did not manage to do.

I am just an ordinary user of computers, not a programer, so my questions may sound a little stupid to you.

Re: Windows Vista - 04.6-1 live CD fails to boot

I am glad to hear that a newer Live CD boots on your computer.

Unfortunately, we are experiencing some resizing problems with GParted Live versions from 0.4.8-1 to 0.5.0-3.  See the following post for more information:
WARNING! Problem Resizing File Systems with GParted

Since GParted Live 0.4.6-1 did not boot on your computer, perhaps you might want to try the latest System Rescue CD.  It also contains GParted.

If your question is only regarding changing Windows drive letters, then please refer to our FAQ.
