Topic: Win XP no boot after GP Live partition re-size - new partition OK
Hello
I am new here but have some system building experience..
Mine is an XP system using a single 500GB SATA WD HDD. I downloaded then created a bootable GParted Live CD (0.4.5-2) to add a 2nd partition and then dual boot Win 7.
I used GParted to shrink the XP partition to 360GB and give the remaining space to the new Win 7 partition.
On reboot Win 7 set up and now runs fine from the normal Windows Boot Loader menu.
When 'previous version of windows' is selected, XP starts to load, but then hangs at the blue splash screen Microsoft Windows XP name and logo. You can move the mouse but there is no further disk activity.
Anyone ever experience the same issue? Is there a way to fix this and avoid a complete re-install of XP?
...Thanks in advance for any and all replies to assist.
