Please consider re-including GRUB in the next live CD release.
It is a fairly small package and extremely handy to be able to use from a terminal window to install/restore MBR's, boot sectors, etc.

I will second or third it. And I have a follow up request about how to build and where to put menu.lst (grub.conf)

GRUB is included on GParted Live as Steven Shiau mentioned.

I am actually looking for increased functionality from gparted, to where I can signal that a specific partition is a boot partition. That is, if I end up with 3 or 4 bootable partitions, I would like to be able to check the ones I chose, and have gparted, in conjunction with grub, make the menu.lst for me, and deposit it into a partition of choice.

Please open a separate request. The original request in this post was to include GRUB on the liveCD and this has been done.
