Topic: No Harddrives Detected in Scan

Hello,

I'm having difficulty getting the Live CD (ver. 0.3.3) to detect the hd. The GUI loads, scans, and nothing appears (No Devices Detected).

Hardware:
======
Processor:    Pentium D 930
Motherboard: Intel DG965SS (http://www.intel.com/products/motherboa … /index.htm)
SATA Controller: (unknown, something from Intel I guess)
Memory:       2 GB DDR 2 (unknown brand)
HD:              SATA Western Digital 160 GB
Video:          XFX 7300 GT
Extra:          8-1 card reader (disconnected)

What I have tried:
============
- Loaded all SATA and RAID drivers
- Loaded Gparted to RAMDISK
- No output from " cat /proc/partitions "
- No output from " Fdisk -lu "
- Ran these commands from a terminal within the GUI

What I am trying to do:
===============
Extend my Windows XP Pro partition to take up the full drive.

Other Notes
========
- Drive is connected directly to motherboard.
- Drive is new with a fresh install of XP.
- No problems detected with Western Digital Diagnostics Tool
- Experience with Linux is moderate.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your time.

Re: No Harddrives Detected in Scan

I tried it without loading any modules. It is still displaying "no devices detected".
The only extra option I set now is the manual video card selection.

Re: No Harddrives Detected in Scan

[SOLVED]
Ubuntu 6.1 has GParted on it. It works like a champ. No extra settings or modules to worry about.

Re: No Harddrives Detected in Scan

ok, that one is a bit old. e.g. it doesn't support moving of most partitions
