Topic: GParted Live Latest version Boot results in black screen

EDIT: Apologies, this should be in the live forum, please could a moderator move it

Hi there.

I've tried all the different boot options on the grub menu, and I get the same problem each time.

There seems to be some automatic monitor resolution/frequency change just after selecting keyboard and language options.

At this stage, the screen goes blank and I am unable to see any commands.  If I wait for fluxbox to load I can see very faint GUI, I think the auto select is choosing a bad frequency/resolution for my generic LCD

using Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to return to bash leaves me with the same dim, unreadable screen, so even running

Forcevideo

is impossible

Is there some way I can prevent this script from running with a boot command?

I'm using dual Nvidia 7600GTs connected via SLI bridge.  Regards,

James

Did you try the option "force VESA driver"? It works in most cases.

The version 0.3.4-5 worked for me (nvidia 7600GS chip) with less problems (I think no problem) than 0.3.4-8.

Re: GParted Live Latest version Boot results in black screen

I have the same problem with version 0.3.4.11.  If I elect the "framebuffer" option, it kicks into the bash shell, but a few lines above it correctly identifies the video card (nVidia 7300GT); still, no options (incl force VESA or autoconfig) will boot to a readable screen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

p.s. the CD won't eject either; no problem with an installed OS (choose boot from MBR), but with a blank disk....how would I get the CD to eject??

You could try any older livecd version like 0.3.4-9 or 0.3.4-8.
(My own computer is happy with 0.3.4-6. My job's computer didn't have any problem with 0.3.4-8 and 0.3.4-7).

Thank you for your reply; I did try 4-6, and had no problems.

So, keep this cd with your computer's drivers, as I did!
