Topic: Problem when booting

Hello,
When I boot with the live cd it comes up with

1. FD 1.44MB System type-(06)
Starting Caldera DR-DOS

EMM386 3.27 Copyright Caldera Inc.....

At this point I waited about 20 min and nothing happens.  I try typing 1 or just hitting enter and nothing.  I do have a USB wireless keyboard, but I unplugged the keyboard and hooked in just a normal PS/2(I know this is what you call the mouse port not sure about the keyboard port.)  Also, I am just using a PS/2 mouse.  So anyway nothing happens.  My system specs are as follows:

Asus A8N5X
AMD 3800 2x
7900gt
2 gigs Gskill ram
2 hard drives- 80g IDE (Windows XP), 500g Samsung SATA(Kubuntu)

One thing that is puzzling is the fact that there is no 3.5inch drive.  So I am not sure why it is even showing that 1 option.  I have no floppy device in the boot list just the dvd drive and the hard drive.  I also tried disabling quick boot but that did not help.  Thanks for any help.

Re: Problem when booting

How did you burn the cd? Did you use nero? If so, be careful to burn it as "ISO image".

See a short tutorial to the following link:
http://www.wizardskeep.org/mainhall/tutor/neroiso.html

I'm not sure if the free neroexpress version that ships with some cdc/dvd-writers supports ISO image burning.
In that case, you can use another burner, like
the free open-source Infra-Recorder from XP ,
ISO Recorder Power Toy (Freeware for XP) http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm
or even Kubuntu software.

Anyway, I think your motherboard is rather well supported and Linux friendly. About the usb keyboard/mouse, if you have any problem, try with the ps2 models.
