Topic: Dumb question? FireWire?

1st post, perhaps a dumb question...

While booted from the gparted live cd, will gparted see an external firewire drive for use with the drive imaging/copy functions?

(Sony Viao PCV-2232 w/ built-in FireWire, Lacie 120GB FW 400 only drive)

I'd like to make a complete backup of the internal drive before repartitioning. C is FULL, D has 88GB empty. Plan on removing Office and iTunes library and set the recycle bin to not reserve its standard 10% to free up space to aid in the repartitioning.

Still, with the drive so full, feel a need to back it up if possible.


Anyone know if this will be possible?

It should. I have full firewire support in the kernel. If you have any problems let us know.
