Topic: GParted does not recognize non-boot volume under VMWare/CentOS?

Greetings,

Am I making any newbie mistakes here?

Here's a screenshot of what gparted LiveCD "sees" when I boot it in the VMWare image... http://www.oldsaw.org/temp/error.jpg

It cannot recognize /dev/sda2 and yet, as far as I can tell, there's "nothing special" about that 2nd partition...   Am I wrong?  Is there another step I have to take to get gparted to "see" that 2nd partition?

I want to expand the 7.9GB partition to include the 32GB unpartioned (39.9Gb total) but because PARTed does not recognize the 7.9Gb partition properly... no go.

fdisk -l under CentOS seems to report everything is normal:

Disk /dev/sda: 42.9 GB, 42949672960 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 5221 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1   *           1          13      104391   83  Linux
/dev/sda2              14        1044     8281507+  8e  Linux LVM

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

GR
