Topic: [Solved] Recover from a "Create Partition Table" operation gone wrong

I was working to make a windows desktop into a dual boot windows, ubuntu machine, and needed to resize my ntfs partition. I was exploring Gparted 0.3.8 off of the Ubuntu live cd, and found the "Create Partition Table" menu option.  When it came up with the warning message, I meant to hit "Cancel" and hit Create by accident.  Now my entire hard drive shows up as unallocated space and us unbootable.  After doing that I have done nothing but do a full dd backup to my NFS to hopefully be able to recover my files.

Any ideas of how to recreate the old partition table back to a full NFS partition?

Take a look at the testdisk application.  It can help to rebuild a lost partition table.  It is contained on both the System Rescue CD, and I believe it is also on the GParted Live CD.
