Is GParted non-destructive in NTFS?
Have a look on the features : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/features.php
gparted is supposed to be non-desctructive in everything unless it explicitely states otherwise. And yes, as Larryt already said, ntfshandling is nondestructive. Please make sure you use the latest version, there are a lot of old versions out there which have problems with ntfs.
And ofcourse, always make a backup of important data before partitioning.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I looked at that page and although it shows that you can grow and shrink partitions with gparted I don't see where it says you can do so non-destructively.
Thanks, plors. Although I see no mention on the 'features' page, I now see it mentioned on the 'about' page.
but i think the non-destructive part should be obvious.. isn't it? otherwise you could just as well delete a partition, recreate it as you want and create a new filesystem on it.
