Topic: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

I downloaded Gparted Live USB  0.3.1-1 and followed the instructions that go with it, but i can not get it working.  I get my computer to start up, get the Gparted screen but after I've pressed enter i get the message:
No Gparted Live USB found
Kernel panic - not syncing Attempt to kill int

the method using the Gparted Live cd 0.5 iso even gave more problems ( I guess it is too advanced for me)

What are the solutions for the USB 0.3.1-1? I'm grateful for any help.

I tried the new version. In my opinion it is not userfriendly at all.

Re: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

marleen@Marleen-Ubuntu:~$ sudo mount -o loop gparted_livecd-beta-0.7.iso /mnt/try/
gparted_livecd-beta-0.7.iso: No such file or directory

The file "gparted_livecd-beta-0.7" is on my desktop.

Re: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

Ok, thnx, I got  a little further. Everything went well with the installation on the usb stick (I suppose, cause no error messages) After booting I get a screen and press enter. Know I have to choose a language two times. After the second choice I get the error message:

"the root block device is unspecified or not detected"

Can you help me further on this road?

Re: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

It's a 2 year old medion 128 mb stick. Is there a way to find out more? I Use Ubuntu Edgy. I'll try to find out more.

Re: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

Tried it again:

loading vmlinuz1...

attempting to boot /dev/sda1
......
......
......
attempting.........        /dev/hdd

No bootable medium found,  waiting for new devices

then the "attempting" starts again.  then:

Could not find cd to boot, something else needed.

after typing /dev/sdd (or sdc1) I get the message:

/dev/sdc is not a valid boot device

specs memory stick:  128 mb / 480 mbps

Don't know if the following is helpful:

volume.block_size                        int   512 (0x200)
volume.num_blocks                     int   240912

Medion could not give additional information

:~$ fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sdc: 128 MB, 128974848 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 15 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sdc1   *           1          15      120456    b  W95 FAT32

forgot to tell you that I changed it into fat32 today, yesterday it was fat16. Error messages are the same

Re: Gparted Live USB 0.3.1-1

ok.
The problem is surely that syslinux try to load sda ! I guess that if you try it on a machine which has only one usb drive, it will work.
I will try to add some boot option about that point.
Please remind me if it takes too long wink
