Topic: FileSystem not recognised for Fedora partition

I'm trying to expand my Fedora partition - it's full.

I can't modify this partition, because GParted doesnt recognise the filesystem on it.

This is odd; it's ext3, and I'm using it now.

Can  anyone help?

Many thanks,

Sam

Re: FileSystem not recognised for Fedora partition

People on the irc channels think it's lvm too.
I'm using the latest liveCD version of gparted.
how do i resize these logical partitions?
do i have to use lvm tools?
or can i do it in gparted?

Re: FileSystem not recognised for Fedora partition

Sam, unfortunatly, gparted doesnt support LVM, atm sad
LVM can be extended, using ext2online.
Have a look there  : http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/extendlv.html or this : http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/l … l?n-l-4121
This one is cool too : http://www.redhat.com/magazine/009jul05/features/lvm2/

Re: FileSystem not recognised for Fedora partition

thanks for the help -- problem now solved
i used gparted to format the blank space into an  ext3 partition
then used system-config-lvm to bolt that seamlessly onto my existing linux partition
very easy in the end
