Topic: Acer Aspire 1 Cloudbook black screen lockup

The Acer Aspire 1 Cloudbook boots to Gparted USB first screen. Looks normal.

Choosing any mode including Safe vga gives a black screen with cursor and the machine locks.
I am trying to copy the Windows 10 64bit OS partition.
This is an Aspire 1-131 Signature with the minimal 32Gb eMMC. The laptop is of recent manufacture (2016)
The mainboard seems to be of Acer design with Intel Chipset / graphics with an Atom series N3050 processor.

Is this an Acer BIOS issue?
Ideas for workarounds?

You might try a different live media that also includes recent releases of GParted, such as System Rescue CD.
