Topic: Gparted Live USB Booting Problem

I have downloaded the Gparted Live CD iso file (gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso)  http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted … o/download and I made the USB bootable using UnetBootIN. After the selecting the option "Gparted Live (Default Settings)" from the graphical screen, the command line screen appears and after a while the screen stops at this message "No file system could mount root, tried:
kernel panic-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on
unknown block(1,0)
....
call stack
...."
I have tried to boot the Live USB into another system but it seems like the problem is persistent.I was just looking at the md5 checksum of the gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso downloaded is: 3f25193bef487546ad043c955ca0f164
But on the website, the MD5 checksum of the gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso is : 2bd38b3537acd0c246d6d30ce0e7fd65
I know that the MD5 do not match, but I downloaded the same file from the sourceforge link : and the downloaded file MD5 is " 3f25193bef487546ad043c955ca0f164 ".
Is this the file problem as I guess or some other issue?
If it is file problem, then I would say that after downloading the file for 3 times the checksum is still the same, can anybody help me out regarding the issue I'm facing right?

Re: Gparted Live USB Booting Problem

I can confirm that the correct md5sum for gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso is:

$ md5sum gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso
2bd38b3537acd0c246d6d30ce0e7fd65 gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso

As such it would appear that you are experiencing issues downloading the file.  Perhaps you might try downloading using a different computer, or a different network?

Re: Gparted Live USB Booting Problem

Yes, after the downloading using some download manager instead of built-in downloader in browser, I got the correct file
File Name - gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso
MD5 sum  - 2bd38b3537acd0c246d6d30ce0e7fd65
File Size   - 133.11 MB

The file size showed on sourceforge page says 139.6 MB. After downloading the iso file I booted the usb drive and I would like to say that Gparted worked like a charm. But while using UnetBooIn, during  Installing BootLoader : The file "syslinux/menu.c32" already exists message pops up.
The message says that " The file H:\syslinux/menu.c32 already exists. Press Yes to overwrite the file and No to retain your existing version ."
I press "Yes" and the live usb worked fine.
Just one more question that I wanna ask is that what is the password of the root user ?
Anyways, thanks for the quick help.

Please, look at the GParted help web page:
http://gparted.org/livecd.php
Look for "Accounts in GParted live".
