Topic: [DUPLICATE] Merge Partitions. Is this possible at all?

Does anyone know if it is technologically possible to write a software that would allow merging two or more logical partitions? This could be extremely useful, if for instance you have 75+ percent of /dev/sda1 fulled and 70+ percent of /dev/sda2 (backup parition) filled as I do. Then if you could merge the two without losing any data.

If possible, can you add this feature to Gparted?
