Topic: [SOLVED]Problems recognising new SATA HDD

I have recently purchased parts to make a new system from scratch and am at the point where I would like to partition my hard drive. Yet when I load GParted (0.5.2 CD) I can only get it running in failsafe mode and then when it was running it wasn't showing the hard drive, yet it does show up in the BIOS. My HDD is a 1TB Hitachi 7K1000.C and my motherboard is an Asus Maximus III Formula. If you need to know anything else about the system to help then please ask.

Re: [SOLVED]Problems recognising new SATA HDD

Maybe your hardware is not well supported by the Linux kernel in GParted live 0.5.2-9.
Could you give GParted live 0.6.0-4 a try?
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted … e-testing/
It comes with newer kernel.

Re: [SOLVED]Problems recognising new SATA HDD

I had already tried the beta before, the same problem arose and I originally thought that the problem happened because it was a beta. However I can now confirm that it is my hardware that isn't supported as I have succeeded in partitioning the same hard drive on a different system now, at least I have drawn attention to the issue and perhaps it will be compatible with my new system in the future. Solved, thank you for giving me the idea.
