Topic: Cannot completely boot gparted

Hello,

I believe I am doing something incorrectly and would appreciate any help.

I have downloaded 2 versions of the gparted live .iso, (0.4.6 and 0.4.7).  I have burned them both using PowerISO, and one of them using Nero, all 3 copies were on CD-RW.

I have tried running all 3 of them on my machine, and 1 of them on my fiancee's machine.

Each time, I get to the boot loader just fine, but no matter what option I pick, I get the error:

Loading /live/vmlinuz1..... isolinux: Disk error 20, AX = 4280, drive EF
Boot failed: press a key to retry...

Actually version 0.4.6 made it to , initrd1.img before kicking out the same error, and on my fiancee's laptop it was AX = 4000 instead of 4280.

Both systems are running Windows Vista Home Premium, mine is 64 bit, hers is not.  I don't actually want to re-partition either of these machines, but I wanted to make sure the disk was going to boot/work.  I had planned on using it to repartition a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server.

I hope this problem has not been posted elsewhere in the forums, as the search didn't return anything similar to this.

Thanks in advance,

BMinnix

Re: Cannot completely boot gparted

Ok, after some thought about the whole ordeal, I was rather sure the steps I had taken were correct.

The only thing that remained a constant was the media that was being used.

I know others here said they had used CD-RW, but for some reason the ones I was using seems to be the issue.  (Memorex CD-RW 4x,700mb,80min)

I purchased a stack of Sony CD-R today, and used PowerISO to burn 0.4.7

Ran on same laptop as yesterday, and was able to completely boot into gparted GUI.  I didn't try anything here since I didn't actually want to mess with the partitions on that machine, but I was definetly booted into gparted, and seemed to have full control.

I do wonder why the CD-RW media had problems.  Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Cannot completely boot gparted

Perhaps the CD-RW media has some flaws on the disk surface?

I have used CD-RW media many times to burn and then boot the GParted Live CD with no problems.
