Topic: Shrinking partitions on SATA-RAID1

Hello,

I want to shrink my EXT3 boot partition on a SATA RAID1 (Nvidia nForce 770 on ASUS M2N-E with F/W 1202). Starting with live CD 0.3.4-11 I see the partitions but when applying the shrink the system shows the following error:

e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sdc1
Filesystem mounted or opened by another program?
e2fsck 1.40.3 (05-Dec-2007)
e2fsck: Device or ressource busy while trying to open /dev/sdc1

Raid is configured for level 1 on /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc mirroring filesystems /dev/sd?1 with EXT3 for / and /dev/sd?5 with SWAP.

I'm wondering which other program could have opened the partition when booting with live CD?

How can get succes shrinking the partition for /?

Thank you

Re: Shrinking partitions on SATA-RAID1

I have been advised that a good way to handle a raid 1, is to break the mirror.  Configure the master drive, then rebuild the mirror.  In effect, you have an automatic bootable backup by using this scheme.  The mechancism for maintaining the raid can appear to be a program.
