Topic: [SOLVED] Startup command for VESA 800x600

I have an older monitor that requires VESA 800x600. For now I just boot in Auto-Configuration, wait until GUI has started up and then:

- Ctrl+Alt+Backspace
- Forcevideo
- 800x600

There must be some smarter (and faster) way to achieve the same result. Is there any other "configuration" type that would be more appropriate here?

If not, what's the best command to stop the batch file just before the GUI comes up? I'm not a Linux guy, Ctrl+C (from DOS) seems to be working fine when hit twice in a quick sequence.

Video card: ATI RS 480 (Radeon Xpress 200C Series)

Tnx

Did you try the boot option "Force VESA driver" ?

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace works, but take note that this keystroke isn't valid for any Linux. Some distros use this to restart X.

"Force VESA driver" boot option does not pause to provide the menu with choices of video resolution, it just goes straight to GUI, just like "Auto-Configuration".

The livecd doesn't give many things to adjust graphics. It is just the platform to make Gparted run, and is rather light, minimal, to be able to run on systems with low memory and processor specs.

Thanks for your prompt response, in that case I'll just start GParted as described in the first post.
