Topic: hangs after detecting cpu

Hi all,
I just got an Everex Stepnote SA2035T which came with vista pre-loaded.  I'm trying to shrink the vista partition with gparted so I can install fedora but the gparted live cd hangs after entering runlevel 3 and detecting 1 cpu.  Has anyone had this problem?
Is there a list of options somewhere that I can give the kernel to figure out what's going on?
Any help would be appreciated, as a laptop with vista is no laptop at all

You can some other from the boot options in the boot menu.
If no success, you could try another version of the livecd.

But, for vista, I would recommend to try its own resizing tool (it is the first time windows include a resizer).
