Topic: liveCD doesn't work on USB stick
Hi,
I wanted to try and get the gparted live CD to work from a USB stick because I'm working on a laptop where the 2nd HDD replaces the CD, so if I want to move stuff between discs I must boot from something other than the CD.
After trying to follow the instructions on the forum, and even using the script provided for this task, I quickly realised that the latest CD works differently - it uses grub.
So, I created a bootable ext3 partition on my USB drive, copied all the files from the CD iso, installed grub on the USB drive and tried booting from it.
It's a partial success; it begins to boot OK but fails trying to load the loop device:
>> Determining root device...
>> Determining looptype ...
!! Invalid loop location: /gparted.dat
!! Please export LOOP with a valid location, or reboot and pass a proper loop=..
.
!! kernel command line!
Any ideas why this is?
