Topic: dissapointing. out of sync and no way to fix it.
The new distros seem to be LACKing features. I know there's probably kernel patches etc. But the X screen detection system sucks!
Out of 5 monitors I've tried it on the cd doesn't properly detect the sync range ending up with screwed up graphics or "out of sync" messages on three of them. Not good results fellas.
Now lets be honest, this really isn't a gparted thing, but would it have been so hard to have a simple command prompt option at boot so you could manually configure and start X using Forcevideo or a similar config script. Shame shame.
But it gets worse, the old releases aren't properly linked anymore on the home site and the livecd documentation is really lacking. (at least on the gparted home page) List of kernel boot options maybe? A little elaboration on the live cd setup.
Because of the command prompt issue the entire release is pretty much useless on about 70% of the computers I've tried it on, only because monitor detection is unreliable and there's no way to manually set it.
I'd go out of my way to fix this and get started on helping, and believe me I think you've all done a exceptional job with gparted, but not having simple options like boot to command prompt is pretty sloppy and an easy fix. Not an excuse to start developing imho.
Considering everything else with minor exception is top notch in this project, could you please add a "debug, or command prompt" mode to the boot options. Or help us out with documenting how to get there. If your really feeling up to it adding a script to manually set your monitor resolution and sync range would be nice too.
Thanks
