Topic: Can't go past Load Menu

Hi,

I'm using gparted 0.3.7.7 with syslinux 3.71, trying to repartition a brand-new acer aspire one. I've set up the live usb, and i'm at an old-school boot menu: Gray, with options to boot to default settings, to ram, safe graphics settings, failsafe mode, etc.

If I select (default settings) and press enter, i get a counter saying "automatic boot in __ seconds" it starts at 30 seconds, counts down to 0 and then restarts at 30. pressing enter for any other gparted menu option does nothing, enter for memtest does nothing, enter for local operating system restarts the gparted menu.

What am I doing wrong here?

Re: Can't go past Load Menu

Would you be able to try out the latest "testing" GParted-Live (0.3.8-9)?

It is available at:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php

Re: Can't go past Load Menu

Just tried the 3.8.9 version of gparted. Same issue.

I unzipped the file onto my usb drive, then ran syslinux on it. Is there any step I'm missing?

USB Drive is a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 2gb, laptop is an acer aspire one, can't think of any other relevant hardware.

EDIT: can anyone chime in with confirmation that gparted works on the acer aspire one? I can't think of any reason it wouldn't, except that it doesn't for me.

EDIT2: Same stick won't boot my other laptop (old dell) either-same menu issue. Can someone post or link to a definitive (preferably detailed) guide to setting this up?

Re: Can't go past Load Menu

When you mentioned "then ran syslinux on it", which version of syslinux are you using ? Make sure you must use syslinux 3.71 or newer version to run "syslinux -fs /dev/..."
