Topic: How to burn Gparted LiveCD?

Hi,

Although I know how to burn and basically do anything

I was given a question by someone: "How do I burn the Gparted LiveCD?"

Well off I went to Gparted main page to link them the tutorial (that must exist)
But I couldn't find it !

Now normally I can't see things when they're straight in front of me anyway!
But I thought Hmm this is why the other guy couldn't find it either.
Maybe it doesn't exist?

Can you please give me the link to the Tutorial on how to burn to disc? This tutorial should also include free ISO burning programs links too, I expect (I know these programs exist, but where's the tutorial)

I would also like to ask that this Tutorial can be made clearly available on the main page of Gparted LiveCD.

I've gone on and on, but just require the Gparted LiveCD burning tutorial (if it exists!)
Not: Just grab this free tool, and burn mate. I hope.

Re: How to burn Gparted LiveCD?

Hello KimslanD,

burning an iso-image is not specific to "GParted"; it's a general task for many software packages to be distributed via the internet. There are also three pages of threads to that topic here (Search!).

But ... you are right, it should also be covered by the manual or at least the FAQs on the "Gparted" main site.

Here is a link to a freeware (Windows) burning program, which is easy to use (pictographic) for that purpose. Of course you additionally need a built in  or external CD-Burner and a blank CD-R(W).  In most cases you actually have a program, that is able to burn ISO-images. Have a look at the software shipped with the PC / Burner. Keep in mind, that burning a data CD-ROM or an ISO-Image is not the same : ISO-Images are copied sector by sector, whereas data is copied file by file, i.e the latter is not necessarily identical on a physical basis and -- never bootable !

Hope that helps !

Hi,

This is a great iso burner for Windows. You didn't specify an OS so I assumed Windows.

ISO Recorder
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
Does not use any Start Program group (or Desktop shortcut)
User must right click on image file, and select "copy image to CD"

ImgBurn
http://www.imgburn.com/
http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.4.2.0.exe
Impressed with the innitial large selection buttons
But once selected the "source" area very small (I contacted imgburn about this)

Both are very good, thank-you.
But to stop the user contacting me back, I feel Imgburn is the best
ie I do not need to explain "right click on image file" etc

I still believe a tutorial should be provided, even though you have stated it's just a standard Windows extension, ISO
I also feel that others may be confused of "What to do" and avoid Gparted for this reason.

I like it smile

Re: How to burn Gparted LiveCD?

Almost any burning software can do it.
The only point is to burn the ISO file as "ISO Image" or "Image", not just as data cd.

GParted was developed as a advanced tool, for rather experienced users, professionals, system administrators etc, usually knowing this step.
There is no special burning tutorial, because it wouldn't be same for any burning tool and the various operating systems used by its users.

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

Re: How to burn Gparted LiveCD?

You can find a full freeware burning suite (capable of burning movie dvds too) there:
http://www.freewarefiles.com/Ashampoo-B … 41028.html

Skip the free registration, but if you register it, don't put your main mail address (or unsubscribe from company's commercial mails).
