Re: how to use gparted

I think both would work for what you want to do. You can try with the later (0.3.7-7). There are a few cases where 0.3.4-11 could work easier, but in most cases the later version is more reliable.

In fact, you have just to delete all the partitions of the hard drive.
I think that the vista installer could do it as well, during the installation.

Re: how to use gparted

the reason why im using gparted instead of windows to partition the HD is because the windows one can partition the HD but when it comes to copy the new files on the HD it produces a blue screen 0x00000050

and im thinking maybe the windows one didnt do a good job in partitioning the HD and thats why im getting errors, but if i use gparted it will do a better job and hopefully wont recieve any errors, or is what im saying not true???

Re: how to use gparted

If you are experiencing a blue screen in Windows while copying files to a partition, then I suspect that the problem will not be fixed by using different partitioning software.

My suggestion would be to use the base operating system tools to check the file system, and perhaps try tools from the hard drive manufacturer to test the hard drive for bad sectors.
