Topic: LiveUSB 0.3.7 = Corrupt Desktop
I just downloaded the LiveUSB of GParted 0.3.7 today. When I boot, I get a corrupt looking desktop. I can't exit X with the CTRL-ALT-Backspace to try the Forcevideo script. I get the same thing no matter what boot option I use.
Version 0.3.6 works if I chose default boot option, then select "Medium mode" and manually configure using xvesa with no framebuffer. If I let it autodetect anything, I get the same problem as with 0.3.7. Since 0.3.7 just starts X and doesn't let you manually configure anything, I can't get it to work.
I just tried the 0.3.8 beta, but I can't even get it to boot. I get a white/gray background with a box where there should be some boot options, but the box is empty. If I press enter, it pops up another box that says "Password Required."
Also, no matter what version I use, when it messes up and since I can't use CTRL-ALT-Backspace to exit X, I have to hard reset the system. My BIOS lets you hit F8 on the post screen to select what device to boot from, but resetting after the LiveUSB locks up results in my system not recognizing any of my external USB drives. I have two external USB Hard Drives and the USB Stick. The only way to boot from a USB device again is to either unplug the system and wait a few seconds, or let it boot to Windows and perform a shutdown. After that it will recognize the external USB drives again.
I have Ubuntu installed and working on an external USB drive.
My system specs are:
AMD 64 X2 4400+
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (NForce4 Chipset)
Nvidia 7800GT Video
2GB OCZ Ram (No errors with Memtest)
250GB SATA Western Digital
400GB SATA Seagate
120GB IDE Seagate in external USB enclosure
120GB Western Digital Passport
