Topic: (solved) using GParted

Can you please point me to a simple procedure to down load GPrated , put it on a cd(?) , how to boot it from it and resize my vista partition all ready with data.

1. i have down loaded the gParted and burn it on the cd.

2. these are not executable file.

(i am more femiliar with windows only - unfortunately)

3. any simple step to work with the GParted program to do my task is most appreciated.

OK. I searched and found some advise as to how to use it. Will try that first.

You must download GParted livecd. The doenloaded file is an .ISO file, that is a CD Image. You have to burn it on cd as "ISO image" or "image", not just as data cd.

Working with vista ntfs partitions involves to reboot in windows after the resizing operation, performing a installation "repair" from the vista installation cd/dvd in case it doesn't work.

Do a backup of important data before trying. If you aren't well trained on partitioning and installing operations, try to use the vista own resizing capability.
