Topic: drives show up seperately so I can't extend C into unpartitioned space

I have a server 2003 machine that I'm trying to expand the C: into an area of unpartitioned space. Right now there is only the C and the space, but when I use the live CD to go in it shows them as two different areas in the drop down. IE - there is only the C visible (no unpartitioned space), but then you can click on the drop down menu on the right and see the unpartitioned space (no C visible). Usually when I used this before you could see both on the same screen and drag and move into the space, but with this I don't have that option.

Is there any way that I can take up the unpartitioned space and merge it with the C drive?

I don't understand well the problem. The menu at the right is the menu for the hard drive selection. Can you give any screenshot, please?
