Topic: No GUI and Read-only file system error

When i boot under default, i press enter through keymap and language options. It loads some things and then gives me this:

after reading other posts, i tryed Forcevideo and typed vesa at lowest resolution(really old monitor). it goes to a black screen, so i click ctr+alt+backspace. i get this :

What i am concerned about is that it is saying something about Read-only file system. Why does it say this?

You need at least 800x600 to run Gparted.
I see you use a rather old Gparted version (0.3.4-x). In this case, you can select VESA boot from the initial boot screen.

Perhaps it is better to try the latest version 0.3.7-5 on live CD. Late versions have an entirely new boot system that works much better in most cases the older system failed.
