GParted forum → Live Media → How do i run the program? sorry, i must be overlooking something.
i copied it to a cd but when i change the boot status to the cd drive, it still loads windows. is there something i did wrong? also, ive never used a program like this before. if i want to change the partition on an external hard drive, do i still need to boot the program from the cd?
You have to burn it as *Image*, not data cd.
Almost any cd burning program can do it.
It works on external disks too. The disk must be on before booting the livecd.

ok, thanks, i should have figured that out. now how do i do it? finalburner is the program that i usually use for burning, but i can find an option for burning an image. it has data, audio, video, or .iso. i dont see an iso file. maybe i just have one of the programs that cant do it.
What is the file you downloaded?
The livecd is an ISO file. Go to the liveCD option in the GParted main page.
"image burn" and "iso burn" mean the same thing. Sometimes you can find "image iso burn" too.
