GParted forum → Live Media → Problems resizing partition
I have a SBS 2003 server with a utility partition, boot partition and an extended partition. I wanted to shrink my D partition and drop it on my C partition. I shrank the extended partition on the front side leaving 12GB unallocated. It will not let me add this unallocated space to my boot partition. I'm using the newest GParted LiveCD. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for your help.

I can't get back on that machine but I will give you what I know off the top of my head. It was GParted LiveCD 0.3.4-11. There was a 100MB Utility parition which shows up on the left, a 12GB boot partition (C:\) which showed in the middle and a 138GB extended partition (D:\) on the right. I did not receive any errors. I was able to successfully shrink the D:\ paritition and the space showed up as unallocated. When I went to resize/move the C:\partition adding that space was not an option, when I went back to the D:\ drive I could have added that space back. Hope this helps.
It is better (more accurate) to give the partition names within Gparted, or to give a screenshot from Gparted. It contains very useful info.
The "D:" drive in mswindows is really a logical partition contained by an extended partition. I guess that you resized the logical partition but not the extended one. You have to resize the extended partition too, to be allowed to resize the primary system partition.
