Topic: Locked at "Applying pending operations".

I replaced a 40 Gb drive with a 160Gb drive.  After cloning the disk the partitions were identical on the new drive as the source, with a large unallocated space.  I set Gparted to move the FAT32 partition to the end of the drive, and expand the primary NTFS partition for to use the unallocated space.  When trying to move and resize partitions, the "Applying pending operations" screen appears, seem to work normally, then the computer and mouse hang up, and the scrolling cursor that moves back and forth in the operation screen stops moving.   Can you give me any wisdom what to do, or am I going to have to reformat, reclone and repartition?

Thanks.

Re: Locked at "Applying pending operations".

Any detail on the system?
Which version did you use?
Did you check the disk after to see if the operations really started?
Did you try to perform one operation at the time?

*** It is highly recommended to backup any important files before doing resize/move operations. ***

System= WinXP home
using Gparted 0.3.6 (burned gparted-live-0.3.6-7.iso to bootable cd)

I did not have time to check the disk before returning to work.  Just checked it and seems as though nothing happened.  I am doing one thing at a time this time.

Is there any way to see the percentage of the process as it completes?  I see the blue bar bouncing back and forth, but was just wondering if there is a way to estimate how long this will take.

There is a latest livecd version, named testing version.
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

Did you check that your clone-disk works as expected in windows before doing resizing?

Another thing you have perhaps to check is what this fat32 partition is for (any special recovery purpose partition? ).

Yes, the cloned disk was working fine before changing the partitions. After redoing the partition move one at a time and then resizing the primary partition by itself, the new system is up and running great.

I guess I just had a little newbie-itis!

I did not download the newer iso for the live cd, just used the original version I had.  The glitch must have been something else because everything worked fine and the system is running like a top now!

Thanks for your help!
