Topic: Can't boot to GUI of GParted

Hello!

I can't boot to the GUI of GParted on my PC. The CD (exact same one) works on other PCs, just not mine.

Please make it compatible.

Here are my specs;

Case: Antec P182
Motherboard: ASUS P5K-E WiFi
RAM: 2x2GB Transcend 800 (will be upgrading to 4x2GB Transcend 800)
Graphics Card: GIGABYTE 8800GTS 512MB (G92)
Hard-Drives: Western Digital 400GB IDE, Maxtor 500GB SATA
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Heatsink/Fan: Zalman CNPS 9700LED
DVD Drive: SATA 20x
Monitor: ASUS VW222U (22'')
Speakers: Altec Lansing VS4121
Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 v1.0
Mouse: Logitech (can find the model number, but it's a laser mouse)

Please fix GParted LiveCD.

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

Please, give us the livecd version that causes the problem, and any error messages you get. Screenshots would be very useful too.

Oh, well I definitley get an error message!

Then it brings me to the bash.

I will give you the exact info next time I boot to the disc (currently have a BIOS problem, and can't boot to disc)

Re: Can't boot to GUI of GParted

I am currently using 0.3.4-11 and am having the same problem

I can't get the GUI to load.

After detecting my processor it jumps to the bash

Re: Can't boot to GUI of GParted

It's telling me I need to run forcevideo script but how do I do that?

Re: Can't boot to GUI of GParted

Hi,
first of all, use always newest version of "GParted". If your graphics card is not correctly detected, "GParted" might exit to "bash". With the newer versions type "sudo Forcevideo" at the bash-prompt and try "vesa"-Mode, which should work on nearly all machines (but of course not with best possible graphic performance).

Re: Can't boot to GUI of GParted

In the case of 0.3.4-x versions, 'sudo' wouldn't be needed. Just 'Forcevideo' would work.

Of course, it is better to use the latest version, not only for video problems but for a lot of bug fixes and software improvements.
