Topic: No Boot Gparted - Error: Invaild Loop Location: /gparted.dat

Hi,

I have a Toshiba DyanbookTablet Protege 3501 laptop with Japan Keyboard
I have a PCMCIA TEAC CDROM drive (lets me boot CD)
I had a bad HDD - replaced with 30GB HDD
Got Live GParted 0.3.6 iso and burned it to disk
Tried all the boot options and US  & JP options
they keep failing at

<< Load keymap...
Language selected
>> Determing root device...
>> Determing looptype...
!! invalid loop location: /gparted.dat
!! please export loop with a vaild location or reboot with proper loop =..
!! kernel comand line!

--end error--

What is this telling me and how do I get Gparted to run?

doing an ls -/dev/s

/dev/sda /dev/sg0

I have basic admin skills in Unix/Linux

There is the latest version out (0.3.6-7), since yesterday. Could you try it, please?

Re: No Boot Gparted - Error: Invaild Loop Location: /gparted.dat

I got around the problem by moving the small laptop harddisk to a regular (but old) Compaq Deskpro using a 2.25 to 3.5 IDE converter.

But getting back to the problem. I think the problem lies in the fact that when the "system OS" took over it didn't have the drivers needed to talk to the pcmcia-CD (or usb-floppy). It would allways fail.

In sumary for $15 the IDE converter made it possible to get the Ubuntu installed on to the hard disk. Which I put back in the laptop and did an upgrade to U-8.0.4. Now I have screen and tablet problems but that's another forum..

Thanks for the support it is a very good program!
