Topic: [Solved] Dual Boot with XP, Kubuntu installed first.

Hi there,

I have been trying to set up a dual boot system as follow.
- One Hard drive with Kubuntu installed.
- Have been following instructions posted on http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_linu … _first.htm

When I Boot the Ubuntu machine from the GParted LiveCD  none of the Configurations want to work and I am told to use "Forcevideo" command with screensize etc.  None of the configurations I try works, thus I can not get to the place where I can select "Resize / move"

Is there another way of doing this or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Re: [Solved] Dual Boot with XP, Kubuntu installed first.

Did you try to use one of the latest Gparted versions?

VESA option works on most systems. You can try it with a resolution of 1024x768.

Forcevideo is case sensitive.

hi class413.

Thks for the quick response.

Idownloaded following ISO  - gparted-livecd-0.3.4-11.iso -, if there is a later version where can i obtain.

I tried the VESA and resolution as mentioned with no luck. I am aware of the Forcevideo being case sensitive.

Latest version is out since a few days.

However, with some computers older versions seem to work better (0.3.4-5, 0.3.4-6, 0.3.4-7).

Solved. I downloaded an earlier version (0.3.4-0) and am able to carry on with installation.

Thks to all whom gave advice. How do you add [Solved] to the topic??
