Topic: dual booting problem when using GParted in Fedora Live 8

Hi,

I am a newbie of Linux... so please be gentle.

I have a HP notebook which is preloaded with windows xp. Now I am trying to install Fedora 8. I boot the machine with the Live CD and it seems good.. I got the Fedora screen at least.

Then I tried to use the GParted in the Fedora 8 to resize my original NTSF partition so I can get some free space for installing the Fedora. The GParted found the HD "sda/1" and show the volumn. However it prohibits me resizing the partition.

I found a "!" in front of the "sda/1". I open it and it says the "Error, dirtectory or folder not found". "probably etc/mtab is missing". "it is risky to.." some words like that. So what is the reason of this and any solution?

Thanks in advance

Re: dual booting problem when using GParted in Fedora Live 8

I don't know if Febora contains an updated Gparted version. I remember that Ubuntu 7.04 contained a very old version.
Gparted names partitions like "/dev/hda1", "/dev/hda2" and so on (in the case of ATA hatd disks) or "/dev/sda1" ... for SATA.

You could try the Gparted livecd instead.
