Topic: Screenshots where to find afterwards in WinXP?

hiho,

I testedt the screenshot function with your livecd version of gparted and it just said, that they were stored on /root.
another strange thing is, that all images had the exact same filename without added postfixes _1 to _x.
After reeeboting to WinXP I can't find the screenshots, so what to do now.

please help smile.

The livecd doen't work on hard disk but just in RAM. This means that the filesystem is in RAM only and is deleted with the reboot.

You have to save the images on a removable media like floppy disk or USB memory drive before rebooting (from the terminal). Look at the documentation for details:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/ti … enshot.htm

hi,

I did read http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/ti … enshot.htm this before, but there is no mentioning to this smile. that's why I asked here.
But I expected something like this.

so, I can save the images to an USB device similar to your 2nd link?

greets,

Andreas

hehe, okay, I will try that.
but just to be curious: if i woulduse the liveusb version, than it would be stored directlyon that disc or in the ram, too?

EDIT:
okay,  copying works fine. next thing willbe to use dmp, because there are a lot of compresion artifacts in the jpeg file. I don't know dmp, but I thing it will be something better big_smile

but I have another question. how do I rename the file before or during the copyprogres?
I cannot name them all the same, because they would overwrite each time.
I am no linux worker or even doser and I don't know the cmd command for it sad

The command cp can rename files too.

cp <filename> <path><newfilename>

Ex.
cp file Desktop/newfile
You have to add / and the new filename to the destination path.

Re: Screenshots where to find afterwards in WinXP?

hi class413 and thx smile.

may I pose another question?
is there a shortkey for taking screenshots? something like alt-ctrl-s?
because when I want to take a picture of an open drop-down menue it will close when I click to take the screenshot.

I think no. This setup is rather minimal, in order to work on low end systems.
