Topic: [SOLVED] Only get as far as GRUB prompt with 0.3.4-10

Chris Grenier of Testdisk suggested I download your iso in order to use is
program on a system I am working on
I downloaded burned the Iso, booted the iso, but I just get to the GRUB
prompt. Text says to use tab to see list of commands, did that and that
works, entered help and that workes, but I don't seem to be able to get to
or find testdisk
I tried tha obvious typing testdisk and enter but that just gives an
unrecognized command error

Any Suggestions?

System is a amd dual core 4800 with an Nvidia gt6600 card

Had same problem. MY cd-dvd rw is sata have second cd reader that is pata and changed to that an got it to start  the live boot. Only got as far as the invalid loop. Have intel 965wh mb think that is what is problem. Will work on it more latter.

I was booting from a PATA Cd- DVD rw drive, my MB is Nvidia for AMD

During boot up I get the text message loading stage2
then GNU grub v 0.97 with the 638k lower 1047488k upper memory
the <mini bash-like line editing

If I enter terminal I get the reply console
If i then enter Testdisk I get ERROR 27 Unknown command .

It seems that Linux didn't boot, so testdisk didn't work. It needs Linux running, then you can open a terminal window and run testdisk there.

You can try another livecd version. My own computer system (intel core duo+965 chipset+nvidia 7600 graphics) is happy with 0.3.4-6 (and -5). You can try it on a cdrw.

Your suggestion did the trick, burned an iso of 4-5 and it loaded properly

So I am guessing that there might be some sort of issue with either my dual core cpu/MB chipset of Graphics card.

In most cases it is related to the chipset, to the graphics card or to any BIOS settings.
