Topic: Raspberry Pi Gparted 16 GB micro SD card will not Boot - Details Below

Rpi 16 GB uSD card will not boot after using:
1) SD_CardFormatter0500SetupEN (SD Association's SD Memory Card Formatter for Windows Download: Texera Version 5.0.0 Beta – no waranty)  to overwrite format and
2) win32diskimager-1.0.0-install (Image Writer for Windows Release 1.0.0) [http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager] to copy image from 8 GB microSD/uSD to 16 GB uSD.

Gparted used via SIIG card reader to properly build the 16 GB uSD card on a
Gigastone 16 GB microSDHC UHS-1 Extreme 600X Speed card

Both 8 GB and 16 GB uSD metrics are below!

Boot Error: end kernel panic  - not syncing: no working init found

Re: Raspberry Pi Gparted 16 GB micro SD card will not Boot - Details Below

The GParted project releases and supports the following products (GParted Download page):

  1. GParted application source code

  2. GParted Live CD bootable image for Intel x86 compatible computers

Raspberry Pi computers use ARM CPUs.  The Intel x86 GParted Live CD will never work on that type of computer.  The error message is not from the GParted application.  It is from a Linux kernel running on the ARM CPU.  Therefore this is not something we produce or support.

try passing init = option to kernel

Your error says that whatever Linux installation you are booting on your Raspberry Pi, it isn't setup correctly because the kernel can't find the init process.  I recommend you try searching for your error in the support information of what ever distribution you are using on your
Raspberry Pi.

Re: Raspberry Pi Gparted 16 GB micro SD card will not Boot - Details Below

Mfleetwo, thanks for your great comments that helped me determine that the mount points on the bootable 8 GB uSD card are different from the mount points for the 16 GB non-bootable uSD card.

Today I moved over to RPi forums!
