Topic: Live CD/Macbook Pro Keyboard Error (Double characters upon key press)

I have successfully booted the Live CD for GParted. Once I get to the command line I see the message to type "startx" to launch the GUI. The problem is that on my Mac Book Pro whenever I press a key, two  corresponding characters are displayed.

Eg. typing 'startx' yields 'ssttaarrttxx'

I am trying to resize HFS+ and NTFS partitions. Currently the HFS+ (OS X 10.4) partition is 100GB and the NTFS (Windows Vista) is 50GB. My intention is to reverse the two to make the NTFS partition 100GB and the HFS+ 50GB.

This seems to be a common problem with livecds/linux in general on the MacBook Pros.

http://forums.remote-exploit.org/showthread.php?p=25149 Has a fix.

noapic irqpoll acpi=force

I appended this and no more double key strokes!

... although I can't get X to launch ...

MacBook Pro. 2GB Ram. 2gHz Core Duo

Please Joseph :
give as much details as you can !
Do you think it would be useful to add such an option in boot lines ?
Something like : "Macbook option" adding "noapic irqpoll acpi=force" in the params line ?

This is important !

Re: Live CD/Macbook Pro Keyboard Error (Double characters upon key press)

I was able to get the gui started on my Macbook Pro using the 3.4-11 version of the Live CD.

Macbook Pro 15"
ATI x1600 128MB

I choose the Macbook option at the start but the gui failed to launch.
At the bash I typed Forcevideo and hit return.
Then I typed 1024x768 and hit return.
The gui then started.
