Topic: Gparted does not detect all of available space

Hi,

I have a RAID on a scsi controller.
The RAID function should be carried out
by the RAID unit, and all of the space should
appear as a single disk.

The controller displays a a size of 20,470 MB.
Gparted tells me that I only 9.8 TB, half of
my total space.

If I try fdisk, it reports only 983 MB !!
Not even close to the actual.

Does anyone know the fix?

Thanks!

apperantly it's not a fully hardware RAID and some drivers are required to make it function properly. Maybe you can get us a little more information like model and type?

thnx!

Re: Gparted does not detect all of available space

Sure -thanks for your help!

The raid is an Arena Deskforce, 8hd raid.
It has a a scsi interface, and it is setup on a AIC SCSI controller.

The controller "SCSI select Utility" reports 20,470MB.
This is consistent with the output on the display of the raid unit.
I thought that this meant that the raid is fully hardware.
But I guess I could be wrong.

Correction from last post, I get , 0.9TB with gparted.

Btw, is the "old" capacitiy of the raid, previous to me installing
larger hard drives and now expecting 2TB. It seems on the
surface that the raid is cooperating, and the scsi controller,
but not the OS.

Please let me know which other specifics you would like / are important.

Thanks,
Vesco.

I guess i could try to see if your hardware is currently supported by my kernel config :-/
So you need to wait a bit more .... Sorry for this
